Saturday afternoon was a masterclass in resilience as the Avon Lake Shoremen battled back from a 0-2 hole to capture the Baron Cup II Championship in a heart-pounding overtime finish vs. Elyria Catholic. After falling behind early, the Shoremen surged back with crucial goals from Nate LePrevost, Kooper Nilson, and Ryan Gibel to force the game beyond regulation. The ultimate hero of the day was Kollin Nilson, who buried the game-winning goal in overtime to clinch the title. Declan Roth had 25 saves in the game, only allowing 1 goal in 6 Elyria Catholic power play opportunities. Entering the tournament as the top seed, the Shoremen capped off their dominant run by improving their season record to an impressive 20-6. This historic victory marks only the second time in school history that the Shoremen have hoisted the cup, with their last championship coming eight years ago.
