State Champion! Scarvelli and Relay Team Light Up Jesse Owens Stadium

Avon Lake Track and Field athletes found immense success last weekend at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium during the prestigious OHSAA Track and Field State Meet. Representing the team at the state's highest level was a stellar group of qualifiers, including Rileigh Scarvelli (Shot Put and Discus), Ella Luczak (Shot Put), Harry Riley (Shot Put), Caden Whittaker (Pole Vault), Niko Koutouras (800m run), and the Boys 4x800m relay team. The relay squad—comprised of Koutouras, Liam Fritz, Ian Fababe, and Alex Schulz—showed incredible grit to land on the podium with a fantastic 6th-place finish in the Division II meet. The ultimate highlight of the weekend belonged to Rileigh Scarvelli, who dominated the field to be crowned the Division II Shot Put State Champion before adding a spectacular silver medal in the Discus to cap off a historic weekend for the program.
