The Avon Lake Track and Field team delivered a historic performance at the Regional Championship meet last week, highlighted by shattered records and a flurry of state qualifiers. On the boys' side, the 4x800m relay team—comprised of Niko Koutouras, Liam Fritz, Ian Fababe, and Alex Schulz—broke a 16-year-old school record to punch their ticket to the D2 State Track Meet. Koutouras doubled down on the history books by shattering a second school record in the 800m run that had stood for 39 years. They will be joined at State by individual boy qualifiers Harry Riley (Shot Put) and Caden Wittaker (Pole Vault). The girls' team mirrored that dominance in the field, as Rileigh Scarvelli advanced to the state meet in both the discus and shot put, while teammate Ella Luczak also earned her spot to join her in the shot put circle.
