Shoregals watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-0 loss to Amherst Steele Comets on Wednesday. Amherst Steele Comets scored on a single by Kasey McGraw and an error in the first inning.
The Shoregals struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively with committing 9 errors in the field and had trouble containing Amherst Steele Comets, giving up 14 runs.
In the first inning, Amherst Steele Comets got their offense started when McGraw singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Shoregals was a single by Valicity Zinsmeister in the second inning.
Madison O’ Berg earned the victory on the rubber for Amherst Steele Comets. She surrendered zero runs on two hits over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Madison Wormsley threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Gwyn Lester took the loss for Shoregals. She went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out one.
Lester led Shoregals with two hits in two at bats.
Amherst Steele Comets totaled 11 hits in the game. O’ Berg, Cassidy Kettleman, Lindsey Reavis, and McGraw each had multiple hits for Amherst Steele Comets.
