Avon Lake played a tough game last night, but showed up tonight looking really strong. Junior goalie Dillon Aslaksen had a really solid game again with support from a defensive core and backchecking forwards. After the first period saw Avon Lake outshoot Canfield, 15-7 without a goal being posted, junior Nick Ospelt buried one in the second to break the scoreless tie.

The third period saw the Cardinals even the score on the power play, before the Shoremen took over. Two goals from Tommy Kacmarcik in less than 5 minutes put Avon Lake on top for good. Kacmarcik’s second goal was a nice shorthanded 2 on 1 play from Justin Share, while his first was assisted by Luke Farthing. To cap off the night, senior Michael Mandel scored from the slot unassisted with just under 2 minutes to go.

This win moves the Shoremen record to 6-6-2 and 4-2 in the conference. Upcoming schedule has Avon Lake at home on Saturday vs Olmsted Falls at 4:15pm and on the road in Elyria vs Midview at 3:30pm.
